Bible Lesson:Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Eutychus-Restored

Bible Lesson: Miracles Of The Power Of The Holy Spirit: Eutychus, restored.

God's Messenger: Apostle Paul.

Bible Location: Troas.

Bible Text:

Acts 20:7-12 KJV
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

Acts 20:7 KJV
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

The Apostle Paul and other Christians, met on Sunday, the first day of the week to hold their Christian service. Sunday, was taken as the “Lord's Day,” because of His resurrection on Sunday.
On the “first day of the week,” “the disciples came together to break bread,” i.e. celebrate Communion.

Because it was the Apostle's last day with them, it was his intentions to answer any and all questions, leaving no stone unturned, and thus it was that he spoke until midnight.

Acts 20:8,9 KJV
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

When was the last time, you were in church so long, because you so loved to hear the word of the Lord, that they had to light the lamps for everyone?

Eutychus, a young man, who desired well to understand, gained for himself a commanding a seat, that would give him unobstructed view and sound. Even still, a window sill is not a good place, as far as safety. As the Apostle taught and illustrated his views, the young man grew tired and weary, and eventually became fast asleep.

And what could be said of those in church, who are fast asleep?
That certain “spiritual” death, awaits?

The young asleep, fell from his special seat, and hit the courtyard below. Dead, was the verdict.

The natural man, would say, well, call the mortician, and notify his next of kin..
The natural man, knows not of the supernatural things of God.

Acts 20:10 KJV
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

How well the beloved Apostle Paul knew the writing of the Old Testament.
For without doubt he had read the story of Elisha the Prophet, and the Shunammite's son.

II Kings 4:32-37 NLT (Read the whole story, verses 8-37.)
32 When Elisha arrived, the child was indeed dead, lying there on the prophet’s bed.
33 He went in alone and shut the door behind him and prayed to the Lord.
34 Then he lay down on the child’s body, placing his mouth on the child’s mouth, his eyes on the child’s eyes, and his hands on the child’s hands. And as he stretched out on him, the child’s body began to grow warm again!
35 Elisha got up, walked back and forth across the room once, and then stretched himself out again on the child. This time the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes!
36 Then Elisha summoned Gehazi. “Call the child’s mother!” he said. And when she came in, Elisha said, “Here, take your son!”
37 She fell at his feet and bowed before him, overwhelmed with gratitude. Then she took her son in her arms and carried him downstairs.

St. Paul, was a man of great faith.
The Apostle, commanding life to return, said to those weeping around him....”Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.”

Matthew 17:16-20 KJV
16 (A frantic father brought his sick child to the Lord saying) I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to Me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Matthew 19:26 KJV
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Luke 1:37 KJV
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Luke 18:27 KJV
And He said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Acts 20:11,12 KJV
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted (greatly relieved).

When Paul arose, they all partook of the Lord's Supper, and he continued his speaking, until daybreak.
Before the Apostle left them, the believers, brought Eutychus, showing, that in answer to prayer, he was alive and well!

Mark 16:15-20 KJV
15 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them
(Full explanation see the posting: Bible Lessons:  Kept By The Power Of God   ); they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Men may speak with great degree and elegance, but if it be without the Power of the Spirit, it is so much “sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." (I Corinthians 13:1 KJV)
The dead are not raised, forever lifeless, and without hope.
