Bible Questions Answered: Election

Bible Questions Answered:
God does elect us this is true?
Tumelo/ Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Bible Answer:

God, does not arbitrarily elect souls to be saved, and souls to be damned.
Some have taught, because of Almighty Power, and Right, God chooses some souls to be saved, while choosing other souls to be lost, what insanity!

Is there “election?”
Yes!

Blind election, such as described above? Never!

What kind of “election,” could possibly be the alternative?

Election, by “Foreknowledge!”

Romans 8:28-30 KJV
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
29 For whom He did foreknow*, He also did predestinate* to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the Firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom He did predestinate*, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.

*Foreknow: Greek-Proginosko (Prog-in-oce-ko): To know beforehand, i.e. forsee, foreknow (ordain) Know (before). All translations “Abingdon/Strong.”

*Predestinate: Greek-Proorizo (Pro-or-id-zo): To limit in advance, predetermine, determine before, ordain, Predestinate.

God's Election, is based on His perfect foreknowledge, He knew before the foundations of the world, those who would, and those who would not turn to Him!
For those who would turn their heart and lives to Him, He charted their lives for blessing and eternal life.

Psalm 37:23,24 KJV
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand.

Psalm 23:37,38 NLT
23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.

Proverbs 16:9 KJV
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

God's Foreknowledge:

Isaiah 42:9 KJV
Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Isaiah 46:9,10 KJV
9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure:

Daniel 2:27,28 KJV
27 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;
28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;

Matthew 24:36 KJV
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Acts 2:22-23 KJV
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
23 Him, being delivered by the determinate* counsel* and foreknowledge* of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

*Determinate-Greek-Proorizo (Pro-or-id-zo): To limit in advance, predetermine before, ordain, predestinate.

*Counsel-Greek-Boule (Boo-lay): Volition, Advice, purpose, advise, counsel, will.

*Foreknowledge-Greek-Prognosis (Prog-no-sis): Forethought, foreknowledge.

Acts 3:18 KJV
But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He hath so fulfilled.

Acts 15:18 KJV
Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world.

Romans 11:2 NLT
"No, God has not rejected His own people, whom He chose from the very beginning..."

I Peter 1:1,2 KJV
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
2 Elect* according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

*Elect-Greek-Eklektos (Ek-lek-tos): Favorite, chosen, elect.

Does it need explanation, that God's favorites, God's chosen, would be those who would turn to Him, with all their hearts, and that He in His Foreknowledge, would elect them to His blessings?

Second Proof:

I Timothy 2:3,4 KJV
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

How many does God, want to be saved? All!

II Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

How many does our God, wish to be lost? None!

Acts 2:21 KJV
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 3:14-21 KJV
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
