Bible Questions Answered: Jesus Only

Bible Questions Answered:
I have a friend that says, there is no three persons, Jesus is all three, God, Spirit, Son. What is the Bible on this subject?
Jason/ Raleigh, Mississippi

Bible Answers:
“Jesus Only,” groups state that Christ is Father and Holy Spirit, as well as Himself, how can this be in light of the Word of God?
Never!

Jesus, surely is not the Holy Spirit, for He stated....

John 14:16,17,26 KJV
[16] And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter*, that He may abide with you for ever;
[17] Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

*Parakletos (Par-ak-lay-tos): An intercessor, consoler: advocate, comforter. (Christ was referring to God the Holy Spirit.)

John 15:26 KJV
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even
the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me:

The Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus at His baptism.

Luke 3:22 KJV
And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him (Jesus, at baptism), and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art My Beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. (Voice of God the Father.)

II Corinthians 3:17 KJV
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Was the Apostle saying the Christ was the Spirit?

II Corinthians 3:17,18 The Douay-Rheims Bible
17 Now the Lord is a Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is (Holy Spirit), there is liberty.
18 But we all, beholding the glory of the Lord with open face, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord (Holy Spirit).

God the Holy Spirit, brings glory to the Lord.

John 16:13,14 KJV
[13] Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.
[14] He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Jesus is not the Father:

John 3:16,17 KJV
[16] For God (God the Father) so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

The Father heard His Son.

John 11:41,42 KJV
[41] Then they took away the stone from the place (Lazarus' tomb) where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up His eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard Me.
[42] And I knew that thou hearest Me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent Me.

The Father knows His Son, and the Son, knows His Father.

John 10:14,15 KJV
[14] I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of mine.
[15] As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down Yy life for the sheep.

Jesus is our advocate (counselor, intercessor) with the Father.

I John 2:1 KJV
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous:

Philippians 2:10,11 KJV
[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

II John 3 KJV
Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

John 1:18 KJV
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.

Romans 15:6 KJV
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 1:2,3 KJV
[2] Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
[3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

God's plurality known from the beginning.

Genesis 1:26 KJV
And God said, Let “us” (Plurality) make man in “our” (Plurality) image, after “our” (Plurality) likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

What do these verses mean?

Isaiah 9:6 KJV
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Easily understood, when reading it from the Darby Translation.

Isaiah 9:6 The Darby Translation
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

John 10:30 KJV
I and my Father are one.

In the original Greek, this verse reads "I and the Father, we are one."
(Again, Plurality.)

John 14:6-11 KJV
[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.
[7] If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him.
[8] Philip saith unto Him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
[10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of Myself: but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works.
[11] Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me: or else believe Me for the very works' sake.

Again another translation:

John 14:6-11 NAS
6. Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life ; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
7. "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also ; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him."
8. Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us."
9. Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip ? He who has seen Me has seen the Father ; how can you say, 'Show us the Father '?
10. "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
11. "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.

The promise of our Saviour:

John 16:7 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

Matthew 28:19 KJV
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

I John 5:7 KJV
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (Sign of unity.)

II Corinthians 13:14 KJV
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God (The Father), and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

I Peter 1:2 KJV
Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit (Holy Spirit), unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
