Bible Lesson: Messianic
Prophecies, Fulfilled, In Jesus Christ. A Messenger Of Deliverance.
Bible Text:
Prophecy:
Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV B.C. 698
1 The Spirit Of The Lord God is upon
Me; because The Lord hath anointed Me to preach Good Tidings unto the
meek; He hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim
liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that
are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of
The Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that
mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in
Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that
they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of The
Lord, that He might be glorified.
Luke 4:16-21 KJV A.D. 27
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He
had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the
synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
17 And He was handed the book of the
prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place
where it was written:
18 “The Spirit Of The Lord is upon
Me, Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor; He
has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the
captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year
of The Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book, and gave
it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were
in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
21 And He began to say to them,
“Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
The Word:
Psalm 91:1-16
NLT
1 Those who
live in the shelter of The Most High will find rest in the shadow of
The Almighty.
2 This I
declare about The Lord: He alone is my Refuge, my place of safety; He
is my God, and I trust Him.
3 For He will
rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover
you with His feathers. He will Shelter you with His wings. His
faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be
afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the
day.
6 Do not dread
the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at
midday.
7 Though a
thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open
your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.
9 If you make
The Lord your Refuge, if you make The Most High your Shelter,
10 no evil will
conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For He will
order His angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will
hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a
stone.
13 You will
trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and
serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord
says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who
trust in My name.
15 When they
call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will
rescue and honor them.
16 I will
reward them with a long life and give them My salvation.”
Isaiah 42:6,7
KJV
6 I The Lord
have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will
keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of
the Gentiles;
7 To open the
blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that
sit in darkness out of the prison house.
Matthew 1:21 KJV
And she shall
bring forth A son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall
save His people from their sins.
Luke 4:18,19 KJV
18 The Spirit
of The Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach The
Gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach
the acceptable year of The Lord.
John 8:32-36 KJV
32 And ye shall
know The Truth, and The Truth shall make you free.
33 They
answered Him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any
man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus
answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth
sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the
servant abideth not in the house for ever: but The Son abideth ever.
36 If The Son
therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 10:9,10 KJV
9 I am The
Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in
and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief
cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come
that they might have Life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.
Romans 6:1-7 NLT (Sin’s Power Is Broken)
1 Well then,
should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of
His wonderful grace?
2 Of course
not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
3 Or have you
forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we
joined Him in His death?
4 For we died
and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised
from the dead by the glorious power of The Father, now we also may
live new lives.
5 Since we have
been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as
He was.
6 We know that
our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might
lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.
7 For when we
died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.
Romans 8:1-10 NLT (Life in The Spirit)
1 So now there
is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
2 And because
you belong to Him, The Power of The Life-Giving Spirit has freed you
from the power of sin that leads to death.
3 The law of
Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful
nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in
a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared
an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice
for our sins.
4 He did this
so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for
us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow The
Spirit.
5 Those who are
dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those
who are controlled by The Holy Spirit think about things that please
The Spirit.
6 So letting
your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting The
Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
7 For the
sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s
laws, and it never will.
8 That’s why
those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can
never please God.
9 But you are
not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by The
Spirit if you have The Spirit Of God living in you. (And remember
that those who do not have The Spirit Of Christ living in them do not
belong to Him at all.)
10 And Christ
lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin,
The Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
Romans 11:26,27
NLT
26 And so all
Israel will be saved. As The Scriptures say, “The One who rescues
will come from Jerusalem, and He will turn Israel away from
ungodliness.
27 And this is
My covenant with them, that I will take away their sins.”
I Corinthians
15:55-58 KJV
55 O death,
where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of
death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks
be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in
the work of The Lord, for as much as ye know that your labor is not
in vain in The Lord.
Galatians 5:1
KJV
Stand fast
therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be
not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Ephesians 6:10-18 NLT (The Whole Armor of God)
10 A final
word: Be strong in The Lord and in His mighty power.
11 Put on all
of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all
strategies of the devil.
12 For we are
not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers
and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this
dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore,
put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the
enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be
standing firm.
14 Stand your
ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s
righteousness.
15 For shoes,
put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be
fully prepared.
16 In addition
to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows
of the devil.
17 Put on
salvation as your helmet, and take The Sword Of the Spirit, which is
The Word Of God.
18 Pray in The
Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be
persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Colossians
1:13,14,21,22 KJV
13 Who hath
delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into
the kingdom of His dear Son:
14 In whom we
have redemption through His Blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
21 And you,
that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked
works, yet now hath He reconciled
22 In the body
of His flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and
unreproveable in His sight:
I Thessalonians
1:10 KJV
And to wait for
His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which
delivered us from the wrath to come.
Hebrews 2:14-18
NLT
14 Because
God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—The Son
also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could He die,
and only by dying could He break the power of the devil, who had the
power of death.
15 Only in this
way could He set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the
fear of dying.
16 We also know
that The Son did not come to help angels; He came to help the
descendants of Abraham.
17 Therefore,
it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, His
brothers and sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful
High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would
take away the sins of the people.
18 Since He
Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us
when we are being tested.
II Peter 2:19
NLT
So you see, the
Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while
keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
Prayer:
II Timothy 4:18
KJV
And The Lord
shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto His
heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
