Bible Lesson: Conversations With
Jesus: Qualification In The Kingdom Of Christ.
Bible Text:
Matthew
20:20-28 KJV
20
Then came to Him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons,
worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21
And He said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto Him, Grant that
these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other
on the left, in thy kingdom.
22
But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to
drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the
baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto Him, We are able.
23
And He saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of My cup, and be
baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on My
right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be
given to them for whom it is prepared of My Father.
24
And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against
the two brethren.
25
But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Ye know that the princes of
the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great
exercise authority upon them.
26
But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among
you, let him be your minister;
27
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28
Even as The Son Of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Mark
10:31-45 KJV
31
But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
32
And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before
them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid.
And He took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things
should happen unto Him,
33
Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and The Son Of Man shall be
delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they
shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles:
34
And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon
Him, and shall kill Him: and the third day He shall rise again.
35
And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto Him, saying,
Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall
desire.
36
And He said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
37
They said unto Him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right
hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of
the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with?
39
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall
indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I
am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40
But to sit on My right hand and on My left hand is not Mine to give;
but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
41
And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with
James and John.
42
But Jesus called them to Him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they
which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over
them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43
But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among
you, shall be your minister:
44
And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45
For even The Son Of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.
Matthew
20:27,28 KJV
27
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28
Even as The Son Of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.
This is what our wonderful Savior came to do for us. What we could
never do, He did for us, taking our guilt and sin, and bearing the
judgment of God, He died in our place, His precious Blood, a sinless
sacrifice, has forever freed us from judgment, and made us justified
in the sight of God.
II Corinthians 5:21 NLT
For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
Justification, declaring us to be just, acquitted before Almighty
God, because of The Blood of Jesus Christ.
Romans
3:23-25 NLT
23
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious
standard.
24
Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did
this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our
sins.
25
For God presented Jesus as The Sacrifice For Sin. People are made
right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His Life,
shedding His Blood.
Romans
5:9 KJV
Much
more then, being now justified by His Blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through Him.
Ephesians
1:7 KJV
In
whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace;
Colossians
1:14 KJV
In
whom we have redemption through His Blood, even the forgiveness of
sins:
Our precious Savior, sacrificed everything for us....
John
13:15 KJV
For
I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Isaiah
57:15 KJV
For
thus saith The High And Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose
name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that
is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the
humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Close
To Thee
Thou my everlasting portion,
More than friend or life to me,
All along my pilgrim journey,
Savior, let me walk with Thee.
Refrain
1:
Close to Thee, close to Thee,
Close to Thee, close to Thee;
All along my pilgrim journey,
Savior, let me walk with Thee.
Not for ease or worldly pleasure,
Nor for fame my prayer shall be;
Gladly will I toil and suffer,
Only let me walk with Thee.
Refrain
2:
Close to Thee, close to Thee,
Close to Thee, close to Thee,
Gladly will I toil and suffer,
Only let me walk with Thee.
Lead me through the vale of shadows,
Bear me o’er life’s fitful sea;
Then the gate of life eternal
May I enter, Lord, with Thee.
Refrain
3:
Close to Thee, close to Thee,
Close to Thee, close to Thee,
Then the gate of life eternal
May I enter, Lord, with Thee.

Proverbs
16:18,19 NLT
18
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.
19
Better to live humbly with the poor than to share plunder with the
proud.
Matthew
11:28-30 KJV
28
Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.
29
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30
For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
