Bible Lesson: Marks Of Godly Character Versus Marks Of Non-Christian Character:  Morality Versus Immorality.

Bible Texts:

 Morality:

Ephesians 4:1 KJV
I therefore, the prisoner of The Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

Immorality:

Proverbs 6:20-26 NLT
20 My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
21 Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck.
22 When you walk, their counsel will lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up, they will advise you.
23 For their command is a lamp and their instruction a light;
their corrective discipline is the way to life.
24 It will keep you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of a promiscuous woman.
25 Don’t lust for her beauty. Don’t let her coy glances seduce you.
26 For a prostitute will bring you to poverty, but sleeping with another man’s wife will cost you your life.

Morality/Immorality:

Psalm 119:172 NLT
Let my tongue sing about your Word, for all your commands are right.

Proverbs 11:3 NLT
Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.

Proverbs 22:6 KJV
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Isaiah 5;20 KJV                                                                                                    Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Amos 5:21-24 NLT
21 “I hate all your show and pretense— the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies.
22 I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won’t even notice all your choice peace offerings.
23 Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.

Matthew 5:48 KJV
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Matthew 6:24 NLT
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

Matthew 7:12 KJV
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is The Law And The Prophets.

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love The Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all The Law And The Prophets.

Mark 7:20-23 NLT
20 And then He added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you.
21 For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder,
22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.
23 All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”

Acts 5:29 NLT
But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than any human authority.

Acts 17:10,11 NLT (Paul and Silas in Berea)
10 That very night the believers sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.
11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched The Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching The Truth

Romans 2:13-16 NLT
13 For merely listening to The Law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying The Law that makes us right in His sight.
14 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know His Law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it.
15 They demonstrate that God’s Law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right.
16 And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life.

Romans 12:1,2 NLT (A Living Sacrifice to God)
1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

I Corinthians 6:9-11,19,20 NLT
9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,
10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of The Lord Jesus Christ and by The Spirit of our God.
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of The Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself,
20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

I Corinthians 15:33 NLT
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”

Galatians 5:19-21 NLT
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,
21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Ephesians 5:3-5 NLT
3 Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.
4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
5 You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

II Timothy 2:15 NLT
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive His approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains The Word of Truth.

II Timothy 3:16,17 NLT
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
17 God uses it to prepare and equip His people to do every good work.

I Peter 1:16 KJV
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

I John 2:15 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of The Father is not in him.

Revelation  21:8 KJV                                                                                                  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Prayer:

I John 2:15-17 KJV
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of The Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of The Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
