Bible Lesson: Messianic
Prophecies, Fulfilled, In Jesus Christ. John The Baptist Forerunner
Of Christ.
Bible Text:
Prophecy:
Isaiah 40:3-5 KJV
3 The voice of
him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of The Lord,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley
shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and
the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory
of The Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together:
for the mouth of The Lord hath spoken it.
Malachi 3:1 KJV 397 B.C.
Behold, I will send My messenger,
and he shall prepare the way before Me: and The Lord, whom ye seek,
shall suddenly come to His temple, even The Messenger Of The
Covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, He shall come, saith The Lord
Of Hosts.
Fulfillment:
Mark 1:1-8 NLT A.D. 26 .
1 This is The Good News about Jesus
The Messiah, The Son Of God. It began
2 just as the prophet Isaiah had
written: “Look, I am sending My messenger ahead of you, and He will
prepare your way.
3 He is a voice shouting in the
wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for The Lord’s coming! Clear the
road for Him!’”
4 This messenger was John the
Baptist. He was in the wilderness and preached that people should be
baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to
God to be forgiven.
5 All of Judea, including all the
people of Jerusalem, went out to see and hear John. And when they
confessed their sins, he baptized them in the Jordan River.
6 His clothes were woven from coarse
camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he
ate locusts and wild honey.
7 John announced: “Someone is
coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not
even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of His
sandals.
8 I baptize you with water, but He
will baptize you with The Holy Spirit!”
The Word:
Amos 3:7 KJV
Surely The Lord God will do nothing,
but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets.
Matthew 3:1-3
KJV
1 In those days came John the
Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is He that was spoken of
by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the
wilderness, Prepare ye the way of The Lord, make His paths straight.
Luke 3:2-6 KJV
2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high
priests, The Word Of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the
wilderness.
3 And he came into all the country
about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission
of sins;
4 As it is written in the book of
the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in
the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of The Lord, make His paths
straight.
5 Every valley shall be filled, and
every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall
be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the
salvation of God.
John 1:14,15,23
KJV
14 And The Word was made flesh, and
dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of The Only
Begotten Of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of Him, and
cried, saying, This was He of whom I spake, He that cometh after me
is preferred before me: for He was before me.
23 He said, I am the voice of one
crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of The Lord, as said
the prophet Isaiah.
II Peter 1:21
KJV
For the prophecy came not in old
time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved
by The Holy Ghost.
Prayer:
Psalm 24:7-10
KJV
7 Lift up your
heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the
King Of Glory shall come in.
8 Who is this
King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your
heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and The
King Of Glory shall come in.
10 Who is this
King Of Glory? The Lord Of Hosts, He is the King Of Glory. Selah.
