Bible Questions Answered:
“I
would take Christ, but there would be terrible persecution...”
Aban/
Bolivar, New York U.S.A.
Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
Luke
12:49-53 KJV
49 I
am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already
kindled?
50
But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened
till it be accomplished!
51
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay;
but rather division:
52
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three
against two, and two against three.
53
The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the
father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the
mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the
daughter in law against her mother in law.
Luke 12:49-53 NLT (Jesus Causes Division)
49
“I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already
burning!
50 I
have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of Me, and I am under a
heavy burden until it is accomplished.
51
Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come
to divide people against each other!
52
From now on families will be split apart, three in favor of Me, and
two against—or two in favor and three against.
53
‘Father will be divided against son and son against father; mother
against daughter and daughter against mother;
and
mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against
mother-in-law.’”

And Reward:
Matthew
10:16-42 NLT
16
“Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd
as snakes and harmless as doves.
17
But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and will be
flogged with whips in the synagogues.
18
You will stand trial before governors and kings because you are My
followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell the rulers and
other unbelievers about Me.
19
When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to
say. God will give you the right words at the right time.
20
For it is not you who will be speaking—it will be The Spirit of
your Father speaking through you.
21
“A brother will betray his brother to death, a father will betray
his own child, and children will rebel against their parents and
cause them to be killed.
22
And all nations will hate you because you are My followers. But
everyone who endures to the end will be saved.
23
When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next. I tell you The
Truth, The Son Of Man will return before you have reached all the
towns of Israel.
24
“Students are not greater than their teacher, and slaves are not
greater than their master.
25
Students are to be like their teacher, and slaves are to be like
their master. And since I, The Master Of The Household, have been
called the prince of demons, the members of My household will be
called by even worse names!
26
“But don’t be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is
coming when everything that is covered will be revealed, and all that
is secret will be made known to all.
27
What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak
comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all
to hear!
28
“Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot
touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in
hell.
29
What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single
sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.
30
And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
31
So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock
of sparrows.
32
“Everyone who acknowledges Me publicly here on earth, I will also
acknowledge before My Father in heaven.
33
But everyone who denies Me here on earth, I will also deny before My
Father in heaven.
34
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came
not to bring peace, but a sword.
35
‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against
her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.
36
Your enemies will be right in your own household!’
37
“If you love your father or mother more than you love Me, you are
not worthy of being Mine; or if you love your son or daughter more
than Me, you are not worthy of being Mine.
38
If you refuse to take up your cross and follow Me, you are not worthy
of being Mine.
39
If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your
life for Me, you will find it.
40
“Anyone who receives you receives Me, and anyone who receives Me
receives The Father who sent Me.
41
If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given
the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people
because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like
theirs.
42
And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of My
followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
Matthew
13:18-23 NLT
18
“Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer
planting seeds:
19
The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear The
Message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil
one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their
hearts.
20
The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear The Message and
immediately receive it with joy.
21
But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They
fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for
believing God’s Word.
22
The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s
Word, but all too quickly The Message is crowded out by the worries
of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
23
The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and
understand God’s Word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or
even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
Matthew
19:27-30 NLT
27
Then Peter said to Him, “We’ve given up everything to follow you.
What will we get?”
28
Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and
The Son Of Man sits upon His glorious throne, you who have been My
followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes
of Israel.
29
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father
or mother or children or property, for My sake, will receive a
hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal Life.
30
But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and
those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.
Matthew
23:29-36 KJV
29
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the
tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous,
30
And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have
been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children
of them which killed the prophets.
32
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation
of hell?
34
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them
shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to
city:
35
That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth,
from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of
Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this
generation.
Matthew
24:8-14 KJV
8
All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9
Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you:
and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake.
10
And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and
shall hate one another.
11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14
And this Gospel Of The Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for
a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mark
4:13-20 NLT
13
Then Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of
this parable, how will you understand all the other parables?
14
The farmer plants seed by taking God’s Word to others.
15
The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear The
Message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away.
16
The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear The Message and
immediately receive it with joy.
17
But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They
fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for
believing God’s Word.
18
The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s
Word,
19
but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this
life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no
fruit is produced.
20
And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and
accept God’s Word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a
hundred times as much as had been planted!”
Mark
10:29-31,36-40 KJV (Matthew 20:20-23/ Matthew 19:28/)
29
And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man
that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother,
or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and The Gospel's,
30
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and
brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with
persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
31
But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
36
And He said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
37
They said unto Him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right
hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of
the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with?
39
And they said unto Him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall
indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I
am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
40
But to sit on My right hand and on My left hand is not Mine to give;
but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
Mark
13:3-13 KJV
3
And as He sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter
and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,
4
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when
all these things shall be fulfilled?
5
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive
you:
6
For many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall
deceive many.
7
And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be ye not
troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be
yet.
8
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be
famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9
But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to
councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be
brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against
them.
10
And The Gospel must first be published among all nations.
11
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought
beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but
whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is
not ye that speak, but The Holy Ghost.
12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the
father the son; and children shall rise up against their
parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
13
And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that
shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Luke
6:22,23,27-36 KJV
22
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate
you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your
name as evil, for The Son Of Man's sake.
23
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is
great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the
prophets.
27
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them
which hate you,
28
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use
you.
29
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other;
and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
30
Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away
thy goods ask them not again.
31
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them
likewise.
32
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners
also love those that love them.
33
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye?
for sinners also do even the same.
34
And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have
ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing
again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children
of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Luke
8:11-15 KJV
11
“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s Word.
12
The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear The
Message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their
hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved.
13
The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear The Message and
receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they
believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation.
14 The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear The
Message, but all too quickly The Message is crowded out by the cares
and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into
maturity.
15
And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest,
good-hearted people who hear God’s Word, cling to it, and patiently
produce a huge harvest.
Luke
12:8-12 KJV
8
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess Me before men, him shall
The Son Of Man also confess before the angels of God:
9
But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the angels
of God.
10
And whosoever shall speak a word against The Son Of Man, it shall be
forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against The Holy Ghost it
shall not be forgiven.
11
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates,
and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or
what ye shall say:
12
For The Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to
say.
Luke
21:10-19 KJV
10
Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom:
11
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and
pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from
heaven.
12
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons,
being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.
13
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye
shall answer:
15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries
shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and
kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to
death.
17
And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake.
18
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19
In your patience possess ye your souls.

Corinthians 2:14-16 NLT
14
But thank God! He has made us His captives and continues to lead us
along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now He uses us to spread
the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
15
Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this
fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and
by those who are perishing.
16
To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and
doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume.
And who is adequate for such a task as this?
I
Peter 2:21 KJV
For
even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us,
leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps:
I
Peter 3:14 KJV
But
and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not
afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
I
Peter 4:16 KJV
Yet
if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him
glorify God on this behalf.

Prayer:
Matthew
5:10-12 KJV
10
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
12
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Joshua
24:15 KJV (Joshua)
And
if it seem evil unto you to serve The Lord, choose you this day whom
ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were
on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose
land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve The Lord.
Matthew 16:25 KJV (Jesus)
For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose
his life for My sake shall find it.
John 6:37,40,47 KJV
37 “...him that cometh to Me I
will in no wise cast out.”
40 And this is the will of Him that
sent Me, that every one which seeth The Son, and believeth on Him,
may have everlasting Life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you,
He that believeth on Me hath everlasting Life.
