Bible Questions Answered:
“Is it possible that some people today, have more love for the church, than they do for the Lord?...”
Tracy/ Reynolds burg, Ohio U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Yes.

I Samuel 4:1-10 NLT (The Philistines Capture the Ark)
1 And Samuel’s words went out to all the people of Israel. At that time Israel was at war with the Philistines. The Israelite army was camped near Ebenezer, and the Philistines were at Aphek.
2 The Philistines attacked and defeated the army of Israel, killing 4,000 men.
3 After the battle was over, the troops retreated to their camp, and the elders of Israel asked, “Why did The Lord allow us to be defeated by the Philistines?” Then they said, “Let’s bring the Ark of the Covenant of The Lord from Shiloh. If we carry it into battle with us, it will save us from our enemies.”

4 So they sent men to Shiloh to bring the Ark of the Covenant of The Lord Of Heaven’s Armies, who is enthroned between the cherubim. Hophni and Phinehas, the sons of Eli, were also there with the Ark of the Covenant of God.
5 When all the Israelites saw the Ark of the Covenant of The Lord coming into the camp, their shout of joy was so loud it made the ground shake!

6 “What’s going on?” the Philistines asked. “What’s all the shouting about in the Hebrew camp?” When they were told it was because the Ark of The Lord had arrived,
7 they panicked. “The gods have come into their camp!” they cried. “This is a disaster! We have never had to face anything like this before!
8 Help! Who can save us from these mighty gods of Israel? They are the same gods who destroyed the Egyptians with plagues when Israel was in the wilderness.
9 Fight as never before, Philistines! If you don’t, we will become the Hebrews’ slaves just as they have been ours! Stand up like men and fight!”

10 So the Philistines fought desperately, and Israel was defeated again. The slaughter was great; 30,000 Israelite soldiers died that day. The survivors turned and fled to their tents.
17 "...And the Ark of God has been captured.”

The Israelites were loosing battle after battle with the Philistines, and they needed something to help them. They had a great idea, bring the Ark Of The Covenant, the very symbol of God's presence with them, into battle, surely they would then win their battles. But come time of their next employment with the Philistines, once again they were defeated, handily.

The Iraelites, would not repent of their sins, calling upon The Lord, for forgiveness and help, no rather they resorted to an object (the Ark), to bring them success.

Here is another story in Israelites history:

Numbers 21:4-9 NLT (The Bronze Snake)
4 Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,
5 and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”
6 So The Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died.
7 Then the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against The Lord and against you. Pray that The Lord will take away the snakes.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8 Then The Lord told him, “Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!”
9 So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!

II Kings 18:4 KJV (Godly King Hezekiah)
He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.*

*Nehushtan- Hebrew: Nehushtan (Nekh-oosh-tawn): Something made of copper, i.e. the copper serpent of the Desert.

II Kings 18:4 NLT
He removed the pagan shrines, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He broke up the bronze serpent that Moses had made, because the people of Israel had been offering sacrifices to it. The bronze serpent was called Nehushtan.

I Corinthians 10:9 KJV
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

Should the church of The Lord Jesus Christ, contain objects of worship?
It should contain only one object of worship, The Lord Jesus Christ!

Isaiah 42:8 KJV
I am The Lord: that is My name: and My glory will I not give to another, neither My praise to graven images.

The Word:

Exodus 20:4-6 KJV (Second Commandment)
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I The Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.

Exodus 34:14 KJV
For thou shalt worship no other god: for The Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Deuteronomy 4:34 KJV
For The Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Deuteronomy 7:25,26 KJV (Israels instructions from The Lord)
25 “You must burn their idols in fire, and you must not covet the silver or gold that covers them. You must not take it or it will become a trap to you, for it is detestable to The Lord your God.
26 Do not bring any detestable objects into your home, for then you will be destroyed, just like them. You must utterly detest such things, for they are set apart for destruction.

Deuteronomy 11:16 KJV
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

Leviticus 26:1 KJV
Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am The Lord your God.

I John 5:21 KJV
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Nothing, but nothing, may take the place of worship, for The Lord Jesus Christ. Someone may be dedicated to build up the church, and make it glorious in every detail, but in the church of The Lord Jesus Christ, the thing most glorious is His presence, and nothing may usurp His place of prominence.

What is to be worshiped in the church of The Lord Jesus Christ, is not some saints bones, statues, or anything else! That which is to be worshiped with all praise and glory is The Living Savior.

All Hail The Power Of Jesus' Name!

All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all!

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all!

Let every kindred, every tribe,
On this terrestrial ball,
To Him all majesty ascribe,
And crown Him Lord of all!

Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all!

Prayer:

Philippians 2:9-11 KJV
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God The Father.
