Bible Lesson: Conversations With
Jesus: Resurrection Events.
Bible Text:
Matthew
22:23-33 KJV
23
The same day came to Him the Sadducees, which say that there is no
resurrection, and asked Him,
24
Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his
brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25
Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had
married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto
his brother:
26
Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27
And last of all the woman died also.
28
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven?
for they all had her.
29 Jesus answered and
said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing The Scriptures, nor The Power
Of God.
30 For in the
resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are
as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the
resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto
you by God, saying,
32 I am The God Of
Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob? God is not the
God of the dead, but of the living.
33
And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at His
doctrine.
Mark
12:18-27 KJV
18
Then come unto Him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection;
and they asked Him, saying,
19
Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his
wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take
his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20
Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying
left no seed.
21
And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the
third likewise.
22
And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died
also.
23
In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall
she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
24 And Jesus answering
said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not The
Scriptures, neither The Power Of God?
25 For when they shall
rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage;
but are as the angels which are in heaven.
26 And as touching the
dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in
the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am The God Of Abraham, and The
God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob?
27 He is not the God
of the dead, but The God Of The Living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Luke
20:27-39 KJV
27
Then came to Him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is
any resurrection; and they asked Him,
28
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having
a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his
wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29
There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and
died without children.
30
And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31
And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they
left no children, and died.
32
Last of all the woman died also.
33
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven
had her to wife.
34 And Jesus answering
said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in
marriage:
35 But they which
shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection
from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they
die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the
children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
37 Now that the dead
are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth The Lord
The God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob.
38 For He is not a God
of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto Him.
39 Then certain of the
scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.
The Sadducees (those who do not believe in a resurrection) tried to
accuse Jesus, through their question, if seven brothers all had the
same wife, due to no children being born, in the resurrection, whose
wife would she be?
Jesus'
Answer:
Marriage In The Resurrection?
Mosaic custom.
Deuteronomy 25:5,6 NLT
5 “If two brothers are living together on the same property and one of them dies without a son, his widow may not be married to anyone from outside the family. Instead, her husband’s brother should marry her and have intercourse with her to fulfill the duties of a brother-in-law.
6 The first son she bears to him will be considered the son of the dead brother, so that his name will not be forgotten in Israel.
Matthew 22:29,30 KJV
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing The Scriptures, nor The Power Of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Mark 12:25 KJV
“...they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
Luke 20:34-39 KJV
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
God
Is The God Of The Living:
Matthew
22:32 KJV
I am
The God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob? God
is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Mark
12:2627 KJV
26
And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the
book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am The
God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob?
27
He is not the God of the dead, but The God Of The Living: ye
therefore do greatly err.
Luke
20:37,38 KJV
37
"...The Lord The God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The
God Of Jacob.
38
For He is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto
Him.
Exodus
3:6,16 KJV (A message to the Sadducees)
6
Moreover He said, I am The God of thy father, The God Of Abraham, The
God Of Isaac, and The God Of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he
was afraid to look upon God.
16
Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The
Lord God of your fathers, The God Of Abraham, Of Isaac, And Of Jacob,
appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that
which is done to you in Egypt:
Resurrection?
Jesus proclaimed for all to hear, the day is coming when “all the
dead will rise up.”
Matthew 22:32 KJV
I am The God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac, and The God Of
Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
Mark
12:25 KJV
For
when they shall rise from the dead,...”
Luke
20:37,38 KJV
37
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush,
when he calleth The Lord The God Of Abraham, and The God Of Isaac,
and The God Of Jacob.
38
For He is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto
Him.
Judgment Day (of
the lost):
Revelation
20:11-15 KJV
11
And I saw A Great White Throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose
face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place
for them.
12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books
were opened: and another book was opened, which is The Book Of Life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in
the books, according to their works.
13
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every
man according to their works.
14
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second death.
15
And whosoever was not found written in The Book Of Life was cast into
the lake of fire.
No
More Death:
For the children of God, death is forever vanquished.
Mark
12:36 KJV
Neither
can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are
the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Luke
20:36 KJV
Neither
can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are
the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
I
Corinthians 15:51-58 NLT (See
also I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
51
But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but
we will all be transformed!
52
It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last
trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died
will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be
transformed.
53
For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never
die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
54
Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that
will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is
swallowed up in victory.
55
O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
56
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its
power.
57
But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our
Lord Jesus Christ.
58
So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always
work enthusiastically for The Lord, for you know that nothing you do
for The Lord is ever useless.
Are
The Redeemed Of God, Still Lower Than The Angels? (The humanity of The Lord Jesus – Hebrews 2:9)
Luke
20:36 KJV
"...they
are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the
children of the resurrection.
Rejoice,
The Lord Is King!
Rejoice, the Lord is King!
Your Lord and King adore;
Rejoice, give thanks, and sing,
And triumph evermore;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Jesus, The Savior, reigns,
The God Of Truth and love;
When He had purged our stains
He took His seat above;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
His kingdom cannot fail,
He rules o’er earth and Heav’n,
The keys of death and hell
Are to our Jesus giv’n;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!
Rejoice in glorious hope!
Jesus The Judge shall come,
And take His servants up
To their eternal home;
We soon shall hear th’ archangel’s voice;
The trump of God shall sound, rejoice!
