Bible Lesson: Messianic
Prophecies, Fulfilled, In Jesus Christ. Coming King.
Bible Text:
Prophecy: 487 B.C.
Zechariah 9:9 NLT (Zion’s
Coming King)
Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in
triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you. He
is righteous and victorious, yet He is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt.
Fulfilled: A. D. 33
Matthew 21:1-11 NLT (Jesus’
Triumphant Entry)
1 As Jesus and the disciples
approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount
of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead.
2 “Go into the village over
there,” He said. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey
tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to Me.
3 If anyone asks what you are doing,
just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you
take them.”
4 This took place to fulfill the
prophecy that said,
5 “Tell the people of Jerusalem,
‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a
donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.’”
6 The two disciples did as Jesus
commanded.
7 They brought the donkey and the
colt to Him and threw their garments over the colt, and He sat on it.
8 Most of the crowd spread their
garments on the road ahead of Him, and others cut branches from the
trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the
procession, and the people all around Him were shouting, “Praise
God for The Son Of David Blessings on the one who comes in the name
of The Lord! Praise God in highest heaven!”
10 The entire city of Jerusalem was
in an uproar as He entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
11 And the crowds replied, “It’s
Jesus, The Prophet From Nazareth in Galilee.”
The Word:
Luke 19:28-40
KJV
28 And when He
had thus spoken, He went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.
29 And it came
to pass, when He was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount
called the mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples,
30 Saying, Go
ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering
ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and
bring him hither.
31 And if any
man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because
The Lord hath need of him.
32 And they
that were sent went their way, and found even as He had said unto
them.
33 And as they
were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose
ye the colt?
34 And they
said, The Lord hath need of him.
35 And they
brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and
they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as He
went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 And when He
was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the
whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with
a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 Saying,
Blessed be The King that cometh in the name of The Lord: peace in
heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 And some of
the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto Him, Master, rebuke
thy disciples.
40 And He
answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold
their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
John 12:12-19 NLT (Jesus’ Triumphant Entry)(Christians,Palm
Sunday)
12 The next
day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through
the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors
13 took palm
branches and went down the road to meet Him. They shouted, “Praise
God!
Blessings on
the one who comes in the name of The Lord!
Hail to The
King Of Israel!”
14 Jesus found
a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said:
15 “Don’t
be afraid, people of Jerusalem. Look, your King is coming, riding on
a donkey’s colt.”
16 His
disciples didn’t understand at the time that this was a fulfillment
of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into His glory, they remembered
what had happened and realized that these things had been written
about Him.
17 Many in the
crowd had seen Jesus call Lazarus from the tomb, raising him from the
dead, and they were telling others about it.
18 That was the
reason so many went out to meet Him—because they had heard about
this miraculous sign.
19 Then the
Pharisees said to each other, “There’s nothing we can do. Look,
everyone has gone after Him!”
Psalm 118:25,26 NLT (The Crowds, sang to The Lord)
25 Please,
Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success.
26 Bless the
one who comes in the name of The Lord. We bless you from the house of
The Lord.
Jesus entered into Jerusalem as a humble King Of Peace.
All
Glory, Laud, and Honor
All glory, laud, and honor
To You, Redeemer, King,
To Whom the lips of children
Made sweet hosannas ring.
You are The King Of Israel
and David’s royal Son,
Now in The Lord’s name coming,
The King and Blessed One.
The company of angels
Is praising You on high;
And we with all creation
In chorus make reply.
The people of the Hebrews
With palms before You went;
Our praise and prayer and anthems
Before You we present.
To You before Your passion
They sang their hymns of praise;
To You, now High Exalted,
Our melody we raise.
As You received their praises,
Accept the prayers we bring,
For You delight in goodness,
O good and gracious King!
