Bible Questions Answered:
“According t o 2 Corinthians 3:17 is Jesus the Holy Spirit?...”
Anton/ Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

II Corinthians 3:17 KJV
Now The Lord is that Spirit: and where The Spirit Of The Lord is, there is liberty.

In that very same chapter, Paul states that Jesus is not The Holy Spirit.

II Corinthians 3:3-6 NLT
3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with The Spirit Of The Living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.
4 We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.
5 It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.
6 He has enabled us to be ministers of His New Covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of The Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under The New Covenant, The Spirit gives life.

Apostle Paul mentions the whole trinity here:
Verse 3 Christ
Verse 4 God The Father, Christ
Verse 5 God The Father
Verse 6 The Holy Spirit

II Corinthians 3:3-6 CEV
3 You are like a letter written by Christ and delivered by us. But you are not written with pen and ink or on tablets made of stone. You are written in our hearts by The Spirit Of The Living God.
4 We are sure about all this. Christ makes us sure in the very presence of God.
5 We don’t have the right to claim that we have done anything on our own. God gives us what it takes to do all that we do.
6 He makes us worthy to be the servants of His New Agreement that comes from The Holy Spirit and not from a written Law. After all, the Law brings death, but The Spirit brings life.

Did Paul believe that Jesus was The Spirit, absolutely not, and neither does The Word Of God.

John 14:16,17 KJV
16 And I will pray The Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever;
17 Even The Spirit Of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

John 15:26 KJV (Jesus speakiing) (Notice the trinity mentioned)
But when The Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from The Father, even The Spirit Of Truth, which proceedeth from The Father, He shall testify of Me:

John 16:7,13,14 KJV
7 Nevertheless I tell you The Truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, The Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.
13 Howbeit when He, The Spirit Of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.
14 He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Prayer:

Luke 11:13 KJV
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your Heavenly Father give The Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?
