“What is hell like?...”

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

The Bible has much to say concerning hell.  Hell is often described as burning fire. Jesus used the word Gehenna describing hell.
Gehenna was outside of Jerusalem, and was a garbage dump, and because of cockroaches and rats, always kept ablaze with fire.

Hell a place of maggots, worms, and fire.

Mark 9:43-48 KJV (Jesus describes hell)
43 "... hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45 "... hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47 "...hell fire:
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Hell:

Matthew 8:12 KJV (Jesus said)
"...outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 25:41 KJV (Jesus description of hell)
"...everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

What about the residents of hell? They live with eternal agony of regret, eternal remorse.

(Regret or remorse, is not sorrow over sin!)

Matthew 27:5 NLT (Judas Hangs Himself)
1 Very early in the morning the leading priests and the elders of the people met again to lay plans for putting Jesus to death.
2 Then they bound Him, led Him away, and took Him to Pilate, the Roman governor.
3 When Judas, who had betrayed Him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders.
4 “I have sinned,” he declared, “for I have betrayed an Innocent Man.” “What do we care?” they retorted. “That’s your problem.”
5 Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

Acts 1:25 KJV
"...Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

II  Corinthians 7:10 NLT
For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow.
But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

All the residents of hell, had the opportunity to accept The Living God, but rejected Him.
They all had committed the unpardonable sin of rejecting God's Spirit, calling them to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:11-15 KJV
11 And I saw a Great White Throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another Book was opened, which is The Book Of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in The Book Of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Psalm 121:1-8 NLT
1 I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there?
2 My help comes from The Lord, who made heaven and earth!
3 He will not let you stumble; The One who watches over you will not slumber.
4 Indeed, He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.
5 The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
6 The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.
7 The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.
8 The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
