Bible Text:
Luke 17:20-37 NLT (The Coming of the Kingdom)
20
One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God
come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by
visible signs.
21
You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over
there!’ For the Kingdom of God is already among you.”
22
Then He said to His disciples, “The time is coming when you will
long to see the day when The Son Of Man returns, but you won’t see
it.
23
People will tell you, ‘Look, there is The Son Of Man,’ or ‘Here
He is,’ but don’t go out and follow them.
24
For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to
the other, so it will be on the day when The Son Of Man comes.
25
But first The Son Of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by this
generation.
26
“When The Son Of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s
day.
27
In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings
right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and
destroyed them all.
28
“And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went
about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling,
farming and building—
29
until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained
down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30
Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when The
Son Of Man is revealed.
31
On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into
the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home.
32
Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!
33
If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life
go, you will save it.
34
That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken,
the other left.
35
Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be
taken, the other left.”
37
“Where will this happen, Lord?” the disciples asked.
Jesus
replied, “Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a
carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.”
The Pharisees demanded to know just when the kingdom of God would
come. Jesus told them, that the kingdom of God, came not with
observation. The kingdom of God, is within the hearts and lives of
believers. The person that accepts grace and mercy from the King of
kings and Lord of lords, becomes a member of the kingdom of God.
Jesus warned that before His kingdom would be revealed, there would
be false prophets, and false Christs.
Matthew
24:23-28 NLT

“Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is The Messiah,’ or
‘There He is,’ don’t believe it.
24
For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great
signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen
ones.
25
See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.
26
“So if someone tells you, ‘Look, The Messiah is out in the
desert,’ don’t bother to go and look. Or, ‘Look, He is hiding
here,’ don’t believe it!
27

these signs indicate that the end is near.
Christs' coming will be instantaneous, examples given were that of Noah,
Lot, and The Lords' second coming.

Coming
of The Son Of Man:

Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when The
Son Of Man is revealed.

The point here is that no hesitation, must be taken in being ready
for The Lord's coming.
Lot's wife, in curiosity, and hesitancy, lost her life.

For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose
his life for My sake and The Gospel's, the same shall save it.

Two in the bed, asleep, one taken and the other left, two grinding at
the mill, one taken and the other left. Swift and certain will the
divisions be.

What were the signs in Noah's day?
Genesis

God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that
every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually.
What were the signs in Lots' day?

“Stand back!” they shouted. “This fellow came to town as an
outsider, and now he’s acting like our judge! We’ll treat you far
worse than those other men!” And they lunged toward Lot to break
down the door.

But the two angels reached out, pulled Lot into the house, and bolted
the door.

Then they blinded all the men, young and old, who were at the door of
the house, so they gave up trying to get inside.

He utterly destroyed them, along with the other cities and villages
of the plain, wiping out all the people and every bit of vegetation.

But Lot’s wife looked back as she was following behind him, and she
turned into a pillar of salt.
What will be the signs in our Lord's day?

Signs in our day, rampant moral putrefaction, and spiritual death.

Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out

Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his
clothes.

And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in
those days!

But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the
sabbath day:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the
beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be
saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers;
believe it not.

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto
the west; so shall also the coming of The Son Of Man be.

For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles (vultures -
NLT) be gathered together.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be
darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall
fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

And then shall appear the sign of The Son Of Man in heaven: and then
shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see The Son
Of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31
And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and
they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one
end of heaven to the other.
32
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender,
and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is
near, even at the doors.
34
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these
things be fulfilled.
35
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of
heaven, but My Father only.
37
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of The Son Of
Man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe
entered into the ark,

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall
also the coming of The Son Of Man be.

Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other
left.

the other left.

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43
But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what
watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have
suffered his house to be broken up.

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not The
Son Of Man cometh.
45
Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made
ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so
doing.
47
Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his
goods.
48
But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth
his coming;
49
And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink
with the drunken;
50
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for
him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the
hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which
there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be
thrown down.

And they asked Him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be?
and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come
in My name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not
therefore after them.

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for
these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom:

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and
pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from
heaven.

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and
persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons,
being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.
13
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye
shall answer:
15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries
shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk,
and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17
And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake.
18
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19
In your patience possess ye your souls.
20
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that
the desolation thereof is nigh.
21
Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them
which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in
the countries enter there into.
22
For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written
may be fulfilled.
23
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in
those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath
upon this people.

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away
captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the
Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the
stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the
sea and the waves roaring;

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those
things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall
be shaken.

And then shall they see The Son Of Man coming in a cloud with power
and great glory.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift
up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

And He spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the
trees;
30
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that
summer is now nigh at hand.

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that
the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

Second
Seal: Conflict on Earth

When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature
saying, “Come and see.”

Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who
sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill
one another; and there was given to him a great sword.
Third
Seal: Scarcity on Earth

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say,
“Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he
who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying,
“A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a
denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”
Fourth Seal: Widespread Death on Earth

When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth
living creature saying, “Come and see.”
8 So
I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it
was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them
over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with
death, and by the beasts of the earth.
Fifth
Seal: The Cry of the Martyrs

When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of
those who had been slain for The Word Of God and for the testimony
which they held.
10
And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy
and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on
the earth?”
11
Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them
that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of
their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they
were, was completed.
Sixth
Seal: Cosmic Disturbances
12 I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a
great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and
the moon became like blood.
13 And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops
its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.
14 Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up,
and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
15 And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the
commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid
themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains,
16 and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us
from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of The
Lamb!
17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to
stand?”
Revelation

Mighty Fortress Is Our God

not the right Man on our side, The Man of God’s own choosing:

ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;

He must win the battle.

little word shall fell him.
That
word above all earthly pow’rs, no thanks to them, abideth;

Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth;

goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The
body they may kill: God’s Truth abideth still,

kingdom is forever.
