Jesus - Why He Came

Bible Questions Answered:
“...Christ's objective was the cross.....”
Ron/ Sydney, Australia

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:

Yes The Lord Jesus, came to give His life a ransom for the lost.

Jesus Came To Be The Savior Of The World:

Matthew 17:22,23 KJV
22 And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son Of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men:
23 And they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Matthew 20:17-19,28 KJV
17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and The Son Of Man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death,
19 And shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He shall rise again.
28 Even as The Son Of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Mark 8:31 KJV
And He began to teach them, that The Son Of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Mark 9:31 KJV
For He taught His disciples, and said unto them, The Son Of Man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill Him; and after that He is killed, He shall rise the third day.

John 6:47-51 KJV
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that Bread Of Life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is The Bread Which Cometh Down From Heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am The Living Bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and The Bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

John 10:17,18 NLT
17 “The Father loves Me because I sacrifice My life so I may take it back again.
18 No one can take My life from Me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what My Father has commanded.”

John 12:27,32,33 KJV
27 Now is My soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
Yes, our dear Lord, came “to give His life a ransom for many.(Matthew 28:20 KJV”
But our Lord had some other objectives as well.

Jesus told the people of Nazareth....

Luke 4:16-21 KJV
16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17 And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias (Isaiah). And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written,
18 The Spirit Of The Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of The Lord.
20 And He closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.
21 And He began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Vs 18
He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;
to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives
recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Vs. 19
To preach the acceptable year of The Lord.

Isaiah's Prophecy:

Isaiah 58:6,7 KJV
6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isaiah 61:1-3 KJV (Luke 4:18,19 KJV)
1 The Spirit Of The Lord God is upon Me; because The Lord hath anointed Me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of The Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of The Lord, that He might be glorified.

This was our Savior's social agenda.

Reasons Why Our Lord Came Into The World:

Matthew 5:17 KJV
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Matthew 10:34-36 KJV
34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Mark 1:38 KJV
And He said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

Mark 2:17 KJV
When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 9:56 KJV
For The Son Of Man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

Luke 19:10 KJV
For The Son Of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

John 1:18 KJV
No man hath seen God at any time, The Only Begotten Son, which is in the bosom of The Father, He hath declared Him.

John 3:17 KJV
For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 6:38 KJV
For I came down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him that sent Me.

John 9:39 NLT
Then Jesus told him, “I entered this world to render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they see that they are blind.”

John 10:10 KJV
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have Life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 12:46 KJV
I am come a Light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness.

John 17:4 KJV
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest Me to do.

John 18:37 KJV
Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

Acts 3:26 NLT
When God raised up His Servant, Jesus, He sent Him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.”

Romans 8:3,4 NLT
3 The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
4 He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow The Spirit.

Galatians 4:4,5 KJV
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

I Timothy 1:15 KJV
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Hebrews 9:26 KJV
For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

I John 3:5,8 KJV
5 And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose The Son Of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

I John 4:9,10,14 KJV
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
14 And we have seen and do testify that The Father sent The Son to be The Savior Of The world.
