Anointing Oil

Bible Questions Answered:
“Tell me it is holy oil that is used in prayer. My good friend says she does not know. What do you say?...”
Uiara/ Sao Paulo, Brazil South America

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:

James 5:14-15 KJV
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of The Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and The Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Did you notice the kind of oil, the elders of the church used?
You couldn't notice, because it is not stated, and the reason it is not stated, is that it is not the oil that heals, it is the prayer of faith to The Risen Savior, that heals.

Oil, is a Biblical type of God The Holy Spirit, and of course healing is one of His gifts.
Yet once again it is the prayer of faith, to The Lord, that brings about healing.

Many times in our New Testament, people were healed, and no oil was used and at other times it was.

Luke 6:19 KJV
And the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for there went virtue out of Him, and healed them all.

Mark 6:13 KJV
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.

The moment we place any emphasis upon an object, (such as anointing oil), we take the emphasis off Jesus, the only One, that is to be held in highest esteem, and worship.

Does it matter what kind of oil you use, if you use oil in anointing the sick? No. Many use olive oil from the Holy Land, but again, the emphasis is “not,” on the oil. The Oil speaks of the fact that God The Holy Spirit is present to administer healing in the name of Jesus Christ, The Healer.

Jesus The Healer:

Matthew 4:23 KJV
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Matthew 8:3,16 KJV
3 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
16 When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick:

Matthew 9:35 KJV

Matthew 12:13, 22 KJV

22 Then was brought unto Him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and He healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

Matthew 14:36 KJV

52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

The Healer is our wonderful Lord, and Savior, He alone is to receive all praise and glory, and that forever. Alleluia!
