Bible Lesson: Messianic
Prophecies, Fulfilled, In Jesus Christ. Jesus Was Buried In A Rich
Mans Tomb.
Bible Text:
Prophecy:
Isaiah 53:9 KJV B.C. 712
And He made His grave with the
wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth.
Fulfilled:
Matthew 27:57-60 KJV A.D. 33
57 When the even was come, there
came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was
Jesus' disciple:
58 He went to Pilate, and begged the
body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded The Body to be delivered.
59 And when Joseph had taken The
Body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 And laid it in his own new tomb,
which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the
door of the sepulcher, and departed.
The
Word:
Matthew 27:57-61
NLT (The Burial of Jesus)
57 As evening approached, Joseph, a
rich man from Arimathea who had become a follower of Jesus,
58 went to Pilate and asked for
Jesus’ Body. And Pilate issued an order to release it to him.
59 Joseph took The Body and wrapped
it in a long sheet of clean linen cloth.
60 He placed it in his own new tomb,
which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone
across the entrance and left.
61 Both Mary Magdalene and the other
Mary were sitting across from the tomb and watching.
Mark 15;42-47
NLT (The Burial of Jesus)
42 This all happened on Friday, the
day of preparation, the day before the Sabbath. As evening
approached,
43 Joseph of Arimathea took a risk
and went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ Body. (Joseph was an
honored member of the high council, and he was waiting for the
Kingdom of God to come.)
44 Pilate couldn’t believe that
Jesus was already dead, so he called for the Roman officer and asked
if He had died yet.
45 The officer confirmed that Jesus
was dead, so Pilate told Joseph he could have The Body.
46 Joseph bought a long sheet of
linen cloth. Then he took Jesus’ Body down from the cross, wrapped
it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of
the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance.
47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the
mother of Joseph saw where Jesus’ body was laid.
Luke 23:50-56
KJV
50 And, behold, there was a man
named Joseph, a counselor; and he was a good man, and a just:
51 (The same had not consented to
the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the
Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52 This man went unto Pilate, and
begged The Body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped
it in linen, and laid it in a sepulcher that was hewn in stone,
wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation,
and the sabbath drew on.
55 And the women also, which came
with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulcher, and
how His body was laid.
56 And they returned, and prepared
spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the
commandment.
John 19:38-42
NLT (The Burial of Jesus)
38 Afterward Joseph of Arimathea,
who had been a secret disciple of Jesus (because he feared the Jewish
leaders), asked Pilate for permission to take down Jesus’ Body.
When Pilate gave permission, Joseph came and took The Body away.
39 With him came Nicodemus, the man
who had come to Jesus at night. He brought about seventy-five pounds
of perfumed ointment made from myrrh and aloes.
40 Following Jewish burial custom,
they wrapped Jesus’ Body with the spices in long sheets of linen
cloth.
41 The place of crucifixion was near
a garden, where there was a new tomb, never used before.
42 And so, because it was the day of
preparation for the Jewish Passover and since the tomb was close at
hand, they laid Jesus there.
Christ
Jesus lay in death's strong bands
Christ Jesus lay in
death's strong bands,
for our offenses
given;
but now at God's
right hand He stands
and brings us life
from heaven;
therefore let us
joyful be
and sing to God
right thankfully
loud songs of
Hallelujah. Hallelujah!
It was a strange
and dreadful strife
when life and death
contended;
the victory
remained with life,
the reign of death
was ended;
Holy Scripture
plainly saith
that death is
swallowed up by death,
his sting is lost
forever. Hallelujah!
Here the true
Paschal Lamb we see,
whom God so freely
gave us;
He died on the
accursed tree--
so strong His
love!-—to save us.
See, His Blood doth
mark our door;
faith points to it,
death passes o'er,
and Satan cannot
harm us. Hallelujah!
So let us keep the
festival
whereto The Lord
invites us;
Christ is Himself
the Joy of all,
The Sun that warms
and lights us.
By His grace He
doth impart
eternal sunshine to
the heart;
the night of sin is
ended. Hallelujah!
Then let us feast
this joyful day
on Christ, The
Bread Of Heaven;
The Word Of Grace
hath purged away
the old and evil
leaven.
Christ alone our
souls will feed,
He is our meat and
drink indeed;
faith lives upon no
other. Hallelujah!

Prayer:
John
11;25-27 NLT
25
Jesus told her, “I am the Resurrection and The Life. Anyone who
believes in Me will live, even after dying.
26
Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never ever die. Do
you believe this, Martha?”
27
“Yes, Lord,” she told Him. “I have always believed you are The
Messiah, The Son Of God, The One Who Has Come Into The World From
God.”
