Bible Lesson: Conversations With
Jesus: Seventy Commissioned.
Bible Text:
Luke 10:1-16 KJV
Bible Topic:
Luke 10:1-20 KJV
1 After these
things The Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and
two before His face into every city and place, whither He Himself
would come.
2 Therefore
said He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are
few: pray ye therefore The Lord Of The Harvest, that He would send
forth laborers into His harvest.
3 Go your ways:
behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4 Carry neither
purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5 And into
whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6 And if The
Son Of Peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it
shall turn to you again.
7 And in the
same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for
the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into
whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as
are set before you:
9 And heal the
sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom Of God is come
nigh unto you.
10 But into
whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out
into the streets of the same, and say,
11 Even the
very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against
you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that The kingdom Of God is
come nigh unto you.
12 But I say
unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than
for that city.
13 Woe unto
thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had
been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a
great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall
be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.
15 And thou,
Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that
heareth you heareth Me; and he that despiseth you despiseth Me; and
he that despiseth Me despiseth Him that sent Me.
17 And the
seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are
subject unto us through thy name.
18 And He said
unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I
give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all
the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject
unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in
heaven.
Our Lord is constantly seeking more workers for the harvest
Luke 10:2 KJV
Therefore said
He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few:
pray ye therefore The Lord Of The Harvest, that He would send forth
laborers into His harvest.
Many followed Jesus on His journeys, believing Him to be the promised
Messiah. From these groups, Jesus choose 70, to go ahead of Him into
Palestine, in Judea where He was unknown.
Jesus sent them out two by two, no doubt for aiding one another and
companionship.
Luke 10:4 KJV
Carry neither
purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way (Ceremonial
greetings).
Not only was there message important, many were lost, but there
message was to be made in haste, that it was to be expedited at
once.
Our
Lord Is Still Calling Today:
Matthew 9:35-38 NLT (The Need for Workers)
35 Jesus
traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in
the synagogues and announcing The Good News about the Kingdom. And He
healed every kind of disease and illness.
36 When He saw
the crowds, He had compassion on them because they were confused and
helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
37 He said to
His disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.
38 So pray to
The Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more
workers into His fields.”
Matthew
10:7,8,27 NLT
7 Go and
announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
8 Heal the
sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons.
Give as freely as you have received!
27 What I tell
you in darkness, that speak ye in Light: and what ye hear in the ear,
that preach ye upon the housetops.
Matthew 24:14
KJV
And this Gospel
Of The kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto
all nations; and then shall the end come.
Matthew 28:18-20
KJV
18 And Jesus
came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in
heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of The
Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo,
I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:15 KJV
And He said
unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature.

keep My commandments.
Acts 1:8 KJV
But ye shall
receive power, after that The Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye
shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and
in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 10:42 KJV
And He
commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He
which was ordained of God to be The Judge Of Quick (living) And Dead.
Romans 10:14,15
KJV
14 How then
shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall
they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they
hear without a preacher?
15 And how
shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How
beautiful are the feet of them that preach The Gospel Of Peace, and
bring glad tidings of good things!
Colossians 4:5,6
NLT

among those who are not believers, and make the most of every

6 Let your

right response for everyone.

there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the
believers, and teaching them.
II Timothy 2:15
KJV
Study to shew
thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing The Word Of Truth.

with all long suffering and doctrine.
I Peter 3:15 KJV
But sanctify
The Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to
every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with
meekness and fear:
I
Love To Tell The Story
I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love;
I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true,
It satisfies my longings as nothing else would do.
Chorus:
I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory,
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams;
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me,
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.
I love to tell the story, ’tis pleasant to repeat,
What seems each time I tell it more wonderfully sweet;
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word.
I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest;
And when in scenes of glory I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

Prayer:
Isaiah 6:8 KJV
Also I heard
the voice of The Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for
us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
