Bible Questions Answered:
“Pastor, what is meant by “other sheep,” in John 10:16?...”
Penelope/ New Castle, Pennsylvania U.S.A.

Bible Answer:

Bible Texts:

Matthew 10:6 KJV
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 10:16 KJV
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Matthew 15:24 KJV
But He answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Matthew 26:31 KJV
Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of Me this night: for it is written, I will smite The Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

In the above verses, our Lord, was referring to the Jewish people.

Isaiah 56:8 NLT
For The Sovereign Lord, who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says:
I will bring others, too, besides My people Israel.”

John 10:16 KJV
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepherd.

John 10:16 ERV
I have other sheep too. They are not in this flock here. I must lead them also. They will listen to My voice. In the future there will be one flock and one Shepherd

John 10:16 GNT
There are other sheep which belong to Me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to My voice, and they will become one flock with one Shepherd.

The word “other,” here used by our Lord, refers to the Gentiles.

Ephesians 2:11,12 NLT
11 Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.
12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.

Galatians 3:26-29 NLT
26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.
28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

Colossians 3:10,11 NLT
10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.
11 In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and He lives in all of us.

Prayer:

Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
28 Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

Mark 16:16 KJV
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
