Bible Lesson: Conversations With
Jesus: Regeneration/ Salvation.
Bible Text:
John 3:1-21 KJV
Bible Topic:
Salvation.
John 3:1-21 KJV
1 There was a man of the Pharisees,
named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night,
and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art A Teacher come from
God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be
with Him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he
cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto Him, How can
a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his
mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of The Spirit, he
cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is
flesh; and that which is born of The Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,
Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth,
and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it
cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of The
Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto
Him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him,
Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye
receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly
things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of
heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to
heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even
The Son Of Man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the
serpent in the wilderness, even so must The Son Of Man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have eternal Life.
16 For God so loved the world, that
He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should
not perish, but have everlasting Life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the
world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be
saved.
18 He that believeth on Him is not
condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he
hath not believed in the name of The Only Begotten Son Of God.
19 And this is the condemnation,
that Light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than
Light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil
hateth The Light, neither cometh to The Light, lest his deeds should
be reproved.
21 But he that doeth Truth cometh to
The Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought
in God.
Who
was Nicodemus? In verse 1, we read that he was, “ a man
of the Pharisees,”“a ruler of the Jews,” verse
11 “ a master of Israel”.
Pharisees, were
known for their extreme legalism. Nicodemus was a member of the
Jerusalem
Sanhedrin, a Jewish
court.
Three times the
writings of John show us Nicodemus. Chapter 3, a conversation about
being “born again,” and John 7:50, at the arrest of Jesus (during
the feast of the unleavened bread.
And Lastly John
19:39, Nicodemus appears assisting Joseph of Arimathea, in the body
preparation at the tomb, bringing myrrh and aloes to embalm The
Lord's body.
Jesus talking to
Nicodemus, tells him that a man must be “born again.”
John 3:3 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God.
As anyone ever
asked you if you have been born again? These words come directly
from The Lord Jesus!
Have you, ever
asked someone, “Have you been born again?”
Nicodemus, couldn't
understand the concept, so Jesus replied.
5 “...Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born of water and of The Spirit, he cannot
enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is
flesh; and that which is born of The Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,
Ye must be born again.
8 The wind
bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but
canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every
one that is born of The Spirit.
A rather perplexed
Nicodemus, responded...
9 “...How can these things be?
15 That whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have eternal Life.
So many gospel
teachers leave off this verse from John chapter 3, and too bad, for
it is one of thee most important verses of all for the child of God!
The Old Testament
story, our Lord alludes to is....
Numbers 21:4-10
NLT (The Bronze Snake)
4 Then the people of Israel set out
from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land
of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,
5 and they began to speak against
God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in
the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here
and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”
6 So The Lord sent poisonous snakes
among the people, and many were bitten and died.
7 Then the people came to Moses and
cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against The Lord and against
you. Pray that The Lord will take away the snakes.” So Moses prayed
for the people.
8 Then The Lord told him, “Make a
replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are
bitten will live if they simply look at it!”
9 So Moses made a snake out of
bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a
snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!
What does this Old
Testament story have to do with The Lord?
This has to do with
the subject of immunization,
and life.
Immunization, or
immunisation, is the process by which an individual's immune system
becomes fortified against an agent (known as the immunogen). When
this system is exposed to molecules that are foreign to the body,
called non-self, it will orchestrate an immune response, and it will
also develop the ability to quickly respond to a subsequent encounter
because of immunological memory.
Immunization is
done through various techniques, most commonly vaccination. Vaccines
against microorganisms that cause diseases can prepare the body's
immune system, thus helping to fight or prevent an infection.
Wikipedia
It use to be that a
milder form of the disease was vaccinated into a individual, so his
body, could make a fast and strong response by his own immunity
against such a disease, this was called immunization.
When or if he ever
came against the full blown disease, his body's immunity was already
strong against it.
In Numbers 21,
the means of death, were the serpents.
The answer was
shown to be, looking at a brazen serpent, to live. (Brass, speaks of
judgment)
The means of death,
the serpent, became the way and means of defense against serpents.
What does all this
have to do with The Lord Jesus Christ?
John 3:14,15 KJV
14 And as Moses lifted up the
serpent in the wilderness, even so must The Son Of Man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have eternal Life.
We "...were
dead in trespasses and sins” Ephesians 2:1 KJV.
And...were... alienated and enemies in (our) mind by wicked
works..." Colossians 1:21 KJV
We had been bitten,
by the serpent of sin.
Revelation 12:9
KJV
And the great dragon was cast out,
that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were
cast out with him.
We all had become
spiritually diseased unto death.
Ezekiel 18:4 KJV
"...the soul that sinneth, it
shall die.
Romans 5:12 KJV
Wherefore, as by one man (Adam)
sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed
upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Our only hope was
to find a defense against the spiritual disease of sin, an immunity!
II Corinthians
5:21 KJV
For He hath made Him to be sin
(spiritual disease of death)
for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him.
Under the curse of
sin (Spiritual disease and death), our Lord died.
But He did not
remain in the tomb, He was victorious against all sin and death!
I Corinthians
15:3,4 KJV
3 For I delivered unto you first of
all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins
according to the scriptures;
4 And that He was buried, and that
He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
He is victorious
over the spiritual disease of sin, and death!
He took upon
Himself all the sins of the world, and His overcoming victory, becomes our victory,
when we choose Him as our Savior, our deliverer from sin and death.
He is our
deliverer over sin and death our spiritual immunity.
As we look to
Him, and Him alone, we will be healed, we will find life!
Our God's Immeasurable Love:
John 3:16-21 KJV
21 But he that doeth Truth cometh to
The Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought
in God.
I
Gave My Life For Thee
I gave My life for
thee,
My precious blood I
shed,
That thou might
ransomed be,
And raised up from
the dead;
I gave, I gave My
life for thee,
What hast thou
giv’n for Me?
I gave, I gave My
life for thee,
What hast thou
giv’n for Me?
My Father’s house
of light,
My glory-circled
throne
I left for earthly
night,
For wand’rings
sad and lone;
I left, I left it
all for thee,
Hast thou left
aught for Me?
I left, I left it
all for thee,
Hast thou left
aught for Me?
I suffered much for
thee,
More than thy
tongue can tell,
Of bitt’rest
agony,
To rescue thee from
hell;
I’ve borne, I’ve
borne it all for thee,
What hast thou
borne for Me?
I’ve borne, I’ve
borne it all for thee,
What hast thou
borne for Me?
And I have brought
to thee,
Down from My home
above,
Salvation full and
free,
My pardon and My
love;
I bring, I bring
rich gifts to thee,
What hast thou
brought to Me?
I bring, I bring
rich gifts to thee,
What hast thou
brought to Me?

Isaiah
45:21,22,25 KJV
21 "...there is no
God else beside Me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside Me.
22 Look unto Me, and be
ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none
else.
25 I, even I, am He
that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake, and will not
remember thy sins.
Isaiah
55:6 KJV
Seek ye The Lord while
He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near:
