Bible Texts:

Here is what our Lord says...

Romans 12:14-21 KJV
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith The Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Our Lord tells us that vengeance, is His, alone, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith The Lord.”

If we take revenge upon another, we become apart of the evil system, that was perpetrated upon us.
No doubt the tempter whispers to many, “you have every right to get even!” But retaliation is “not,” the call of God's child, rather we are told by The Lord...
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink...
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

When we repay good for evil, our Lord tells us....
for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

What does that mean? It certainly must mean, that by doing so, a feeling of guilt or shame will come upon the individual. Hopefully, a conviction that may lead one to repentance, and The Lord.

Vengeance:

Psalm 145:8 KJV
The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

Proverbs 25:26 NLT
If the Godly give in to the wicked, it’s like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring.

Matthew 3:8 NLT
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

Matthew 5:38,39 KJV
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Luke 10:27 KJV
And He answering said, Thou shalt love The Lord Thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself.

John 14:15 KJV
If ye love Me, keep My commandments.

Galatians 3:27 KJV
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Ephesians 4:26,27 KJV
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.

I Thessalonians 5:15 KJV
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Hebrews 10:30 KJV
For we know Him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will recompense, saith The Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people.

Revelation 6:9,10 KJV
9 And when He had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for The Word Of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long,
O Lord, Holy And True, dost thou not Judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

Prayer:

Nehemiah 9:17 KJV
"...but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness..."

Psalm 86:5 KJV
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.

Psalm 130:7 KJV
"...hope in The Lord: for with The Lord there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption.

Isaiah 1:18 KJV
Come now, and let us reason together, saith The Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
