Bible Lesson: Cherished
Promises To The Child Of God: To Those Who Are Tempted.
Bible Text:
I Corinthians 10:13 KJV
There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is
faithful, who will not suffer (allow) you to be tempted above that ye
are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.
The Lord's Request:
There
hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
The Lord's Promise:
but
God is Faithful, who will not suffer (allow) you to be tempted above
that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to
escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Strength
In Times Of Temptation:
Psalm
1:1,2 KJV
1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.
2
But his delight is in The Law Of The Lord; and in His Law doth he
meditate day and night.
Psalm
119:11 KJV
Thy
Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Matthew
6:13 KJV
And
lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Matthew
11:28-30 KJV
28
Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.
29
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30
For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.
Matthew
24:13 KJV
But
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Matthew
26:41 KJV
Watch
and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is
willing, but the flesh is weak.
Mark
14:38 NLT
Keep
watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the
spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”
Luke
4:13 KJV
When
the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left Him until the next
opportunity came.
Luke
11:4 KJV
And
forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted
to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luke
22:39,40,46 NLT
39
Then, accompanied by the disciples, Jesus left the upstairs room and
went as usual to the Mount of Olives.
40
There He told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.”
46
“Why are you sleeping?” He asked them. “Get up and pray, so
that you will not give in to temptation.”
Romans
6:1,2 KJV
1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may
abound?
2
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer
therein?
Romans
12:2 NLT
Don’t
copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform
you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will
learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and
perfect.
Romans
13:13,14 KJV
13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14
But put ye on The Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the
flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.
I
Corinthians 15:57 KJV
But
thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Galatians
2:20 KJV
I am
crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ
liveth in me: and the Life which I now live in the flesh I live by
the faith of The Son Of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Galatians
5:16 KJV
This
I say then, Walk in The Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of
the flesh.
Ephesians
6:10-18 KJV
10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in The Lord, and in the power of His
might.
11
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil.
12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with Truth, and having
on the breastplate of righteousness;
15
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17
And take the helmet of salvation, and The Sword Of The Spirit, which
is The Word Of God:
18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in The Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints;
Philippians
4:8 KJV
Finally,
brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be
any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
I
Thessalonians 5:17 KJV
Pray
without ceasing.
I
Timothy 6:9 KJV
But
they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into
many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and
perdition.
II
Timothy 2:22 KJV
Flee
also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace,
with them that call on The Lord out of a pure heart.
Titus
2:11,12 KJV
11
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all
men,
12
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Hebrews
2:18 NLT
Since
He Himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help
us when we are being tested.
Hebrews
4:15 KJV
For
we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling
of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin.
Hebrews
10:36 KJV
For
ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God,
ye might receive the promise.
Hebrews
12:1,14 KJV
1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so
easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set
before us,
14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall
see The Lord:
James
1:2-4,12-15 KJV
2 My
brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and
entire, wanting nothing.
12
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he
shall receive the crown of Life, which The Lord hath promised to them
that love Him.
13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God
cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth He any man:
14
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and
enticed.
15
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when
it is finished, bringeth forth death.
I
Peter 5:8-11 KJV
8 Be
sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions
are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10
But The God Of All Grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory
by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you
perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
11
To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
I
John 2:15-17 KJV
15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any
man love the world, the love of The Father is not in him.
16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of
the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of The Father, but is of the
world.
17
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God abideth for ever.
I
John 5:4 KJV
For
whatsoever is born of God over cometh the world: and this is the
victory that over cometh the world, even our faith.
Jude
1:24,25 KJV
24
Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present
you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
25
To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and
power, both now and ever. Amen.
Revelation
2:7,11,17,26 KJV
7 He
that hath an ear, let him hear what The Spirit saith unto the
churches; To him that over cometh will I give to eat of The Tree Of
Life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
11
He that hath an ear, let him hear what The Spirit saith unto the
churches; He that over cometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
17
He that hath an ear, let him hear what The Spirit saith unto the
churches; To him that over cometh will I give to eat of the hidden
manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name
written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
26
And he that over cometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him
will I give power over the nations:
Revelation
3:21 KJV
To
him that over cometh will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even
as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne.
Revelation
12:11 KJV
And
they overcame him by The Blood Of The Lamb, and by The Word of their
testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelation
21:7 KJV
He
that over cometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and
he shall be My son.
Temptations come from many places, yet help from only one!
James
4:7 KJV
Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from
you.
Farther
Along
Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long;
While there are others living about us,
Never molested, though in the wrong.
Refrain:
Farther along we’ll know more about it,
Farther along we’ll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We’ll understand it all by and by.
Sometimes I wonder why I must suffer,
Go in the rain, the cold, and the snow,
When there are many living in comfort,
Giving no heed to all I can do.
Tempted and tried, how often we question
Why we must suffer year after year,
Being accused by those of our loved ones,
E’en though we’ve walked in God’s holy fear.
Often when death has taken our loved ones,
Leaving our home so lone and so drear,
Then do we wonder why others prosper,
Living so wicked year after year.
“Faithful till death,” saith our loving Master;
Short is our time to labor and wait;
Then will our toiling seem to be nothing,
When we shall pass the heavenly gate.
Soon we will see our dear, loving Savior,
Hear the last trumpet sound through the sky;
Then we will meet those gone on before us,
Then we shall know and understand why.

Prayer:
John
13:7 KJV
Jesus
answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou
shalt know hereafter.
John 6:37,40,47 KJV
37 “...him that cometh to Me I
will in no wise cast out.”
40 And this is the will of Him that
sent Me, that every one which seeth The Son, and believeth on Him,
may have everlasting Life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on Me hath
everlasting Life.
