Bible Questions Answered:
“I see in Christ's story of the
farmer scattering his seed, Luke 8:4-15, that only 1 out of 4
are blessed. The rest are not, due to circumstances beyond their
control. So if I'm on a rock, no one should condemn me ever....”

Bible Answer:
Bible Texts:
Luke 8:4-15 KJV (A Farmer
Scatters His Seeds)
4 And when much people were gathered
together, and were come to Him out of every city, He spake by a
parable:
5 A sower went out to sow his seed:
and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden
down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
6 And some fell upon a rock;
and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked
moisture.
7 And some fell among thorns;
and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
8 And other fell on good ground,
and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when He had said
these things, He cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
9 And His disciples asked Him,
saying, What might this parable be?
10 And He said, Unto you it is given
to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in
parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not
understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed
is The Word Of God.
12 Those by the way side are
they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away The Word out
of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they,
which, when they hear, receive The Word with joy; and these have no
root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns
are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with
cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to
perfection.
15 But that on the good ground
are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard The
Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
Our Lord, here, no
doubt is giving statistics regarding the salvation of humanity, and
it doesn't look good.
One may remember
our Lord saying...
Matthew 7:13,14
KJV
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate:
for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to
destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and
Narrow Is The Way, which leadeth unto Life, and few
there be that find it.
Now there is a vast
difference between men and seeds. Seeds do not, have free will as to
where they should be planted. Seeds do not have free will and choice
as to what kind of seed they are, or how much crop they will produce,
etc. etc. etc.
There's an old time
tested axiom, “You can not prevent the birds from flying over
head,” and anyone would know that, “but, you (as a person,
not a seed) can prevent them from making a nest in your hair!”
Bad things may
happen to seeds, but we are not seeds, and we can do something about
the bad things of sin, that would choke out spiritual Life from our
lives!
In the parable of
the farmer, our Lord, used a metaphor, to illustrate why some fall
away from faith.
They have received
the seed by the wayside, the foot path, where any chance of spiritual
life, becomes trampled out, due to godless associations and their
demands.
Others receive
their seed upon a rock, they seem to thrive, but only for a short
time, because they do not give the seed of faith any chance to take
root, and grow, their seed dies due to lack of soil and moisture (the
Word Of The Lord, and Prayer.)
And then our Lord
mentions those whose seed has fallen in with the thorns. Yes there is
some small growth, but it isn't long until the thorns (The things of
this world-I John 2:15) choke the young planting to death.
Unlike a seed that
has no choice over its scattered destination, and life, we all do!
Now doctrines and
tenets of faith are never derived by Parables or stories, but upon
Thus Saith The Lord.
This is why we
daily read The Word Of God, our (spiritual) daily Bread.
I Corinthians
10:13 NLT
The temptations in your life are no
different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He
will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you
are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.
Hebrews 13:5 KJV
"...For He hath said, I will
never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Joshua asked Israel
of old this all important question, that still needs to be answered
today!
Joshua 24:15 KJV
And if it seem evil
unto you to serve The Lord, choose you this day whom ye will
serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on
the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose
land ye dwell: but as
for me and my house, we will serve The Lord.
Prayer:
Psalm 86:5 KJV
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready
to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
Isaiah 55:6 KJV
Seek ye The Lord while He may be
found, call ye upon Him while He is near:
John 1;12,13 KJV
12 But as many as received Him, to
them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His name:
13 Which were born, not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
