God Of Love

Bible Questions Answered:
“...if god is so great why is he a god of love and not a mighty warrior, or brain of the universe....?
Bryan/ Edmonton, Alberta Canada

Bible Answer:

Bible texts:

Yes, God is a God of love.

I John 4:8,16 KJV
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

If God was an anger filled mighty warrior, or just simply a God of beyond genius thought, what would that mean for us?

It would mean that He would not be a God of Compassion, Grace, Forgiveness, Mercy, or Condescending Kindness, that's what it would mean.

We, would be lost, what a terrible thought that would be.

In today's world, power and might is every thing, and intelligence is so sought after.
Many look up to the body builder with mussels of steel, perfect abs and great agility.
We build super computers that can map out every atom in an atomic blast.

But what good would a god of only vast intellect, or strength and might be to us, answer, no good.

We need a God of love, grace, mercy and condescending kindness, and why, because that is just what we need!

The Word:

Nehemiah 9:16,17 KJV
16 But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
17 And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsook them not.

Psalm 17:7 KJV
Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. By your mighty power you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.

Psalm 31:21 KJV
Blessed be The Lord: for He hath shewed me His marvelous kindness in a strong city.

Psalm 36:7 KJV
How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Psalm 63:3 KJV
Because thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Psalm 69:16 KJV
Hear me, O Lord; for thy loving kindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

Psalm 86:15 KJV
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and Truth.

Psalm 117:2 KJV
For His merciful kindness is great toward us: and The Truth of The Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye
The Lord.

Psalm 136:26 KJV
O give thanks unto The God Of Heaven: for His mercy endureth for ever.

Isaiah 54:8 KJV
In a little wrath I hid My face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith The Lord thy Redeemer.

Isaiah 63:7 KJV
I will mention the loving kindnesses of The Lord, and the praises of The Lord, according to all that The Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His loving kindnesses.

Daniel 9:9 KJV
To The Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against Him;

John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 13:34,35 KJV
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Romans 5:3-8 NLT
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us The Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.
8 But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 8:37-39 KJV
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Galatians 2:20 KJV
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of The Son Of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

Ephesians1:7 KJV
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace;

Ephesians 2:4-9 KJV
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is The Gift Of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Colossians 1:14 KJV
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Titus 3:4-6 KJV
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of The Holy Ghost;
6 Which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior;

I John 3:1 KJV
Behold, what manner of love The Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.

I John 4:9-11 KJV
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His Only Begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation (sacrifice) for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

An all powerful mighty warrior or an artificial super intelligent brain, would know nothing of the fruits of The Spirit.

Galatians 5:23,24 KJV
22 But the fruit of The Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness..."

Ephesians 5:9 KJV
(For the fruit of The Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and Truth;)

Our God, is all powerful, but He is a God of love, gentleness, grace and peace.
That's the kind of God we need, and have!

Our God is a God that helps, heals, and comforts.

Isaiah 58:6 KJV
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free..."

And this great condescending God, cares for and loves us!

Prayer:

Nehemiah 9:17 KJV
"...but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness..."

II Peter 3:9 KJV
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

John 3:16,17,36 KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life.
17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
36 He that believeth on The Son hath everlasting Life: and he that believeth not The Son shall not see Life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
