Bible Lesson: Cherished Promises To The Child Of God: For God's Adoptive Child.
Bible Lesson: Cherished Promises To
The Child Of God: For God's Adopted Child.
Bible Text:
Romans 8:15-18,22,23 KJV
15 For ye have
not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received The Spirit Of Adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit
itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of
God:
17 And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified
together.
18 For I reckon
that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
22 For we know
that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together
until now.
23 And not only
they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of The Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of our body.
The Lord's Request:
Romans 8:17 KJV
And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with Him...”
Hebrews 12:7 KJV
If ye endure
chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he
whom The father chasteneth not?
The Lord's Promise:
Romans 8:17 KJV
And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified
together.
Hebrews 2:11 KJV
For both He
that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for
which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren,
Child of God, you have been adopted into the family of God!
Galatians 4:4-7
KJV
4 But when the
fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a
woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem
them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of
sons.
6 And because
ye are sons, God hath sent forth The Spirit Of His Son into your
hearts, crying,
Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore
thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of
God through Christ.
Ephesians 1:4-6
NLT
4 Even before
He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and
without fault in His eyes.
5 God decided
in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself
through
Jesus Christ.
This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.
6 So we praise
God for the glorious grace He has poured out on us who belong to His
dear Son.
Suffering
With The Lord:
Psalm 34:19 KJV
Many are the
afflictions of the righteous: but The Lord delivereth him out of them
all.
Matthew 5:10-12
KJV
10 Blessed are
they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the
kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are
ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all
manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
12 Rejoice, and
be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so
persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Matthew 10:22,38
KJV
22 And ye shall
be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that endureth to the
end shall be saved.
38 And he that
taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.
Matthew 11:28
KJV
Come unto Me,
all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mark 13:13 KJV
And ye shall be
hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that shall endure unto
the end, the same shall be saved.
Luke 9:23-26 KJV
23 And He said
to them all, If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
24 For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose
his life for My sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is
a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be
cast away?
Luke 14:27 KJV
And whosoever
doth not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.
John 16:33 KJV
These things I
have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye
shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the
world.
Acts 5:41 KJV
And they
departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were
counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.
Romans 5:3-5 KJV
"... we
glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh
patience;
4 And patience,
experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope
maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our
hearts by The Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans
8:17,18,35-39 KJV
17 And if
children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified
together.
18 For I reckon
that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be
compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
35 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress,
or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is
written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all
these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
38 For I am
persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height,
nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 12:14 KJV
Bless them
which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
I Corinthians
10:13 NLT
The temptations
in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is
faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can
stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you
can endure.
II Corinthians
1:3-7 NLT
3 All praise to
God, The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our Merciful Father
and the source of all comfort.
4 He comforts
us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are
troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given
us.
5 For the more
we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort
through Christ.
6 Even when we
are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation!
For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you.
Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer.
7 We are
confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in
the comfort God gives us.
II Corinthians
4:8-10,17 KJV
8 We are
troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not
in despair;
9 Persecuted,
but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always
bearing about in the body the dying of The Lord Jesus, that the Life
also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
17 For our
light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far
more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
II Corinthians
12:7-10 KJV
7 And lest I
should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the
revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the
messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above
measure.
8 For this
thing I besought The Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And He said
unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made
perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I
take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in
persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak,
then am I strong.
Philippians 1:29
KJV
For unto you it
is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but
also to suffer for His sake;
Philippians
3:8-11 KJV
8 Yea
doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the
knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss
of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found
in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but
that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is
of God by faith:
10 That I may
know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of
His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death;
11 If by any
means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
II Thessalonians
1:1-12 KJV
1 Paul, and
Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God
our Father and The Lord Jesus Christ:
2 Grace unto
you, and peace, from God our Father and
The Lord Jesus
Christ.
3 We are bound
to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that
your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you
all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we
ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and
faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a
manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be
counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6 Seeing it is
a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that
trouble you;
7 And to you
who are troubled rest with us, when The Lord Jesus shall be revealed
from heaven with His mighty angels,
8 In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not
the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be
punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of The Lord,
and from the glory of His power;
10 When He
shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all
them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in
that day.
11 Wherefore
also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of
this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and
the work of faith with power:
12 That the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him,
according to the grace of our God and The Lord Jesus Christ.
II Timothy 1:8
KJV
So never be
ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me,
either, even though I’m in prison for Him. With the strength God
gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of The Good News.
II Timothy 2:3,4
KJV
3 Thou
therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that
warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may
please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
II Timothy 3:12
KJV
Yea, and all
that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
Hebrews 12:10,11
NLT
10 For our
earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they
knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we
might share in His holiness.
11 No
discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But
afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those
who are trained in this way.
James 1:2-4,12
KJV
2 My brethren,
count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this,
that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let
patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing.
12 Blessed is
the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall
receive the crown of life, which The Lord hath promised to them that
love Him.
James 5:10,11
KJV
10 Take, my
brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of
The Lord, for
an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11 Behold, we
count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job,
and have seen the end of The Lord; that The Lord is very pitiful, and
of tender mercy.
I Peter 1:6,7
KJV
6 Wherein ye
greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in
heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the
trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that
perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise
and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
I Peter 3:14,17
KJV
14 But and if
ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of
their terror, neither be troubled;
17 For it is
better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than
for evil doing.
I Peter
4:1,12-19 KJV
1 Forasmuch
then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves
likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh
hath ceased from sin;
12 Beloved,
think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice,
inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His
glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be
reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for
The Spirit Of
Glory And Of God resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken
of, but on your part He is glorified.
15 But let none
of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as
a busybody in other men's matters.
16 Yet if any
man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him
glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time
is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first
begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel
of God?
18 And if the
righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner
appear?
19 Wherefore
let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping
of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto A Faithful Creator.
Revelation 2:10
KJV
Fear none of
those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast
some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have
tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give
thee a crown of life.
Revelation
21:3-5 KJV
3 And I heard a
great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is
with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people,
and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall
wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more
death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more
pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And He that
sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new..."
We
Are The Children Of God:
Matthew 5:9 KJV
Blessed are the
peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matthew 12:50
KJV
For whosoever
shall do the will of My Father which is in heaven, the same is My
brother, and sister, and mother.
John 1:12,13 NLT
12 But to all
who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become
children of God.
13 They are
reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or
plan, but a birth that comes from God.
Romans 8:29 KJV
For whom He did
foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of
His Son, that He might be The Firstborn among many brethren.
II Corinthians
6:17,18 KJV
17 Wherefore
come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith
The Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be
A Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith The
Lord Almighty.
Galatians
3:26-29 KJV
26 For ye are
all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many
of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is
neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be
Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the
promise.
Ephesians
2:18,19 NLT
18 Now all of
us can come to The Father through the same Holy Spirit because of
what Christ has done for us.
19 So now you
Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens
along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s
family.
I John 3:1 KJV
Behold, what
manner of love The Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be
called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because
it knew Him not.
As Christians, we have been adopted into the very family of God, and
become heirs of Christ.
Nevertheless the order of life has never changed, first the cross,
then the crown. Will life contain suffering, many are suffering right
now around the world for their faith. Whatever comes our way, we know
that our Lord, will never leave or forsake us, one day He will reward
the faithful.
Hebrew 13:5 KJV
"... For
He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
I Corinthians
2:9 KJV
But as it is
written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that
love Him.
Prayer:
Romans 5:7,8 KJV
7 For scarcely for a righteous man
will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to
die.
8 But God commendeth His love toward
us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 KJV
“For the wages of sin is death;
but The Gift Of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
I John 3:1 KJV
Behold, what
manner of love The Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be
called the sons of God..."
I
Belong To The King
I belong to The King; I’m a child of His love,
I shall dwell in His palace so fair,
For He tells of its bliss in yon heaven above,
And His children in splendor shall share.
Refrain
I belong to The King; I’m a child of His love,
And He never forsaketh His own.
He will call me some day to His palace above;
I shall dwell by His glorified throne.
I belong to The King, and He loves me I know,
For His mercy and kindness so free
Are unceasingly mine wheresoever I go,
And my Refuge unfailing is He.
Refrain
I belong to The King, and His promise is sure:
That we all shall be gathered at last
In His kingdom above, by life’s waters so pure,
When this life with its trials is past.
